Our Services

  • AAP offers affordable mental health services in Ventura County. We specialize in trauma informed care, strength-based approaches and culturally inclusive modalities. Our services are evidenced-based.

  • Our outpatient services are designed to treat people at all stages of use. We have predesigned or custom designed programs to best work for you.

  • Alcohol and Other Drug Testing Services are private community-based programs or court mandated program for any person completing substance use disorder programs, CFS cases, child custody/divorce cases, or any private testing needs for families, employers, or personal needs.

    Department of Transportation (DOT) Alcohol and Other Drug Testing are referred by Substance Abuse Professionals (SAP), which is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation for alcohol and other drug testing. AAP has been providing these services since 1989 in both Los Angeles and Ventura Counties to assist employees and employers recommended by the employer or from the results of a SAP assessment.

  • AAP Has been a leading agency for training , development, and meeting the skills necessary to become a licensed practitioner. AAP has been providing all levels of LPHA internships . AAP is associated and contracted with many notable universities such as the University of Southern California (USC) and others. AAP's primary internship programs are, substance use counselors, mental health multidisciplinary internships including, MFT, LCSW, LPCC, LSW, LCSW, and other Master’s Degree Level practitioners, and volunteer internships for future practitioners through a program at California State University, Channel Islands. In the Fall of 2023, AAP plans to begin its doctoral level internship program including practicum, pre-doctoral, and post-doctoral residency.

  • BIP is a rehabilitation program for people convicted of certain domestic violence offenses. AAP began BIP services in September 2019. BIP is a 52-week court mandated program for batterers. AAP Evidence Based Intervention curriculum is by, Nada Yorke, “Another Way…Choosing to Change.” This intervention covers subjects dealing with emotions, substance use, finances, children/parenting and much more.

  • Domestic violence (DV), or intimate partner violence (IPV) is a public health problem that affects millions of people in the US each year. AAP began these support groups for men/women who have been the victims/survivors of domestic violence. We have offered DV services since 2021. The groups are offered to both men or women but never co-ed.

  • Child Abuse Counseling and Psycho-Education (12 and 52-Week Programs) are designed to help at-risk families develop a safe and nurturing environment. The psychoeducation consists of methods or activities that seek to reduce or deter specific or predictable problems, to protect the current state of well-being, or to promote desired outcomes or behaviors.

  • AAP is the only agency in Ventura County that offers support groups for survivors of our batterers intervention program including domestic violence programs and intimate partner violence programs.

  • Anger Management Programs at AAP is based on contemporary peer reviewed research on anger treatment, which is primarily focused on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Using CBT, clients learn to identify unhelpful or negative thought patterns and change inaccurate beliefs.

  • Women's specialty programs focuses on providing services to women's individual gender specific needs. Our women's programs are specific to treating trauma and substance use concurrently, which includes PTSD treatment.

  • Child Family Services Program (CFS) programs are designed to have multidisciplinary services and 1-5 year plan is to include wrap around services. This includes: mental health therapy, substance use groups and individual sessions, and alcohol and other drug testing services.

  • Public Education is designed to reduce the stigma of mental health and substance use disorders in the community. Our focus is treating first time offenders in substance use, first treatment domestic violence, and mental health with education regarding their symptoms and diagnosis, stigma, cultural issues and much more.

  • Community Programs HIV/AIDS classes, Learning Center i.e., homework assistance for youth, yoga, meditation, nutrition, and other holistic health and wellness services.

  • Work to Career Programs assists clients in our current programs and community based programs to help them with creating resumes, mock interviews, dress for success, upselling self etc.

  • Co-Occurring Treatment Services is an integrated multidisciplinary team treatment approach program. The multidisciplinary treatment team provides both mental health and substance abuse interventions in an integrated fashion. Co-occurring disorders can include anxiety disorders, depression, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and schizophrenia, among others while also dealing with substance use disorders.

  • Moral Reconation Therapy is an evidence-based cognitive behavioral intervention developed 25 years ago. It is currently being used in 50 states and 7 countries and consistently yields successful results with varying target populations, using effective systematic, cognitive-behavioral approach that treats a wide range of issues including substance abuse, domestic violence, trauma, parenting, job skills, and other criminogenic risk factors. AAP began providing MRT services in 2010.

  • United States Federal Probation can be sentenced as an alternative to a prison term sentence after offenders have been charged with a federal criminal offense. AAP has contracted with United States Federal Probation since 1995 providing substance use disorder services, which include: Evidence-Based Interventions to treat: substance use group therapy, Moral Reconation Therapy, individual substance use services and alcohol and other drug testing services. AAP provides services for pre-sentencing services. In 2023, AAP plans to provide mental health services for USPO. Within 1-5 years AAP plans to provide psychiatric services for USPO clients

  • Mental Health Diversion allows defendants with a mental disorder that have been accused of committing specific crimes to receive treatment rather than go to jail or prison.

  • Substance Use Programs are referred by Substance Abuse Professionals (SAP), which is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare. AAP has been providing these services since 1989 in both Los Angeles and Ventura Counties to assist employees and employers complete any substance use program and/or drug testing recommended by the employer or from the results of a SAP assessment. The DOT employee needs to complete a substance use program in order to obtain a clearance to go back to work. AAP uses evidence-based interventions depending on the persons need. pre-employment, Department of Transportation, return to duty testing and much more.
